For the past 3 months I've been preparing for a holiday to Spain with my best friend Holly and her mother. And on Monday the 13th of July at 8:00am preparations stopped as I got into the car to make my journey to Holly's house. The rain drops were hammering on the car windows and I thought I would be glad to see the back of all this rain..
Monday 13th July -8:00am
'Did you remember to buy the insect repellent spray?' said a text from Mum.
'Umm Dad, I think we are going to need to pull over at Sainsburys for a second!' So with my insect spray in one hand and my phone in the other, running out of the supermarket in the pouring rain, Dad said to me,
'Hey Alice, you're not going to be missing this weather when you're in Spain I can promise you now!' I smiled to myself as we drove out of the car park.
7:00pm
'Alice, come here and look at this!'
Holly and I were unpacking in our villa bedroom and she was standing by our bedroom window looking out over the balcony. As i walked over to see what she was gawping at, i saw this...
This is the veiw i could wake up to every morning! We were staying in a small village up in the mountains in Spain called Montejaque. Absolutely beautiful. Surprisingly there were quite a few English families around, which i did enjoy as it felt more homely!
Wednesday 15th July- 11:00 am
This is where i spent my morning feeling ill and homesick :( I didn't think i'd feel homesick at all when i was there, but i forget how much home and my family mean to me! Even so, i didn't want to let that stop me. I knew this was an amazing opportunity for me and i shouldn't waste it by being sad and ill (although i couldn't help feeling ill!) So i left my bed and ended up here....
Lying on a sunbed (with alot of suncream and a hat) in the shade by the pool, reading the OK magazine next to my best friend. Bliss (: Im the one with the blonde hair and the very burnt tummy! As you can see in the picture my best friend Holly is a very tanned, dark haired girl which makes us so opposite in looks, but we are very similar in personality and being hyper (:
6:00pm
We decided to take an evening swim in the pool and asked holly's mum to take some pictures of us! We wanted to do a high school musical jump into the pool, and for Helen to take the picture whilst we were in the air. But that didn't go according to plan. Look what happened instead...
Holly decided to push me in and run away (: In the end we decided to give up with the jumping idea and went to a restaurant for the evening! As we were walking around the happy village we saw a hotel/restaurant in front of us. We decided to check it out, but as we walked in, and ordered our drinks at the bar, we saw everything was in English. At first i think all three of us had the same thought-
'Has our Spanish got better?'
But after a split second we then realised it was an english Hotel! The owners there were English and so were the guests. We had lovely conversations with them but that wasn't the best part for me and holly...
Scrabble and music (: The lady knew it was a bit boring for me and Holly to be sat with a bunch of adults for hours and hours. So she took us through to the sitting room and let us watch English TV on their big flat screen, play on the guitar, go on the laptop and play scrabble! But the only priority we had was to keep an eye on the dog, Woody. And by the looks of things, him and Holly seemed to be good friends...
Or maybe enemies! It's hard to tell. Anyway after that evening, we went to the hotel every night. They even gave us ice cream (: which may have been a mistake when Helen was trying to calm us down for the night!
Thursday 16th July- 4:00pm
We decided to go to Ronda (a city near Montejaque) to look around the shops. The city had beautiful views over the bridge.
The heat was crazy! Especially for a girl like me with my pale skin and bright blonde hair. But it was safe to say it was an amazing experience for me!
Monday 20th July- 9:00am
So it was goodbye to Montejaque by Monday! We were heading off to our new destination that day. The picture above with the table and chairs was where we'd eat our dinner most nights just outside our villa! So beautiful at night time aswell!
I would love to go back to Montejaque sometime in my life. The people there were lovely and it was all so beautiful and relaxing!
My part 2 will be posted very soon. Moving on to the more beachy side of things (:
'Goodbye Montejaque' I whispered as we drove away from the village, and infront of the car i could see the sign saying...
'Cannos De Mecca, 350 Miles'
(Or something on the lines of that!)
