Hello, hello my friends, and how are you all this rather grey and wet summers day? I have had a blissful few days at my sewing machine doing all those crafty projects that have been mounting up for weeks - or months in some cases! It's been good, really good despite my machine behaving rather badly at times. I had decided that I wanted to make a slip cover for our white Ikea pouffe. This also doubles as another place to stash my fabric and because of this the cushion lid is always sloping and pieces of fabric keep spewing out - plus white with cats and children..mmm not good.
I had decided to use a similar red and white theme to the rest of the chairs but just as I was about to start I spied my Cath Kidston pink paisley table cloth and felt that that would go better if I matched it with the wrong side of my cerise gingham. I also used the pink bias binding that I bought in Laura Ashley in 1983 so talk about vintage!
I finished it, put it on and then stepped back to admire my handiwork and was struck by the realization that it looked rather pink and frilly and reminded me of one of Mr Kipling's Exceedingly Good cakes, a certain pink French Fancy.
Hmm..and now I'm not so sure if I like it quite as much - but I'll give it 24 hours and then I'm sure it will look less like a French Fancy and more like a rock bun!
