4 things that recently made me laugh..
- Tom re-telling the story of a 'boy-racer' who thought he was being clever by going much, much too fast up our hill every morning; our neighbours shocked face as he swerved to avoid a car and his designer hub caps (metal things that cover the side of a car wheel) falling off and slowly rolling back down the hill.
- Anthony taking his Cappuccino from Costa Coffee into the shop's toilet for 10 minutes in the M5 services. Yes he really did - and actually drank some of it whilst in there! I'll say no more but mention I was not with him at the time, thank goodness.
- Discovering late one peaceful night (whilst getting something from our outside shed) that my torch light made the nesting seagull on our neighbour's roof let out a torrent of high pitch screeches. That day my neighbour had previously been moaning about the noise of the seagulls so me being particularly naughty thought making the seagull do this on command was hilarious and called out to anybody in our house still awake to come and watch. Only Tom was responded and we were doubled over with laughter hoping she couldn't hear us. Unfortunately, when talking to her recently about said seagull she never mentioned it, and the seagull doesn't respond now which serves me right! Honestly, what example do I set my children!
- The hose squirting full-on into my face on Sunday evening whilst I was trying to wind it up. It was a real Laurel and Hardy moment.
4 places I have been in the last 7 days..
- School; Sainsburys; Plumbing shop; tile shop. (Wow, what an exciting life I lead!)
4 things I have watched in the last 7 days..
- My bird feeders; The 6 o'clock News; Big Brother; Brothers & Sisters; 10 minutes of South Park.
4 things that have touched my heart..
- The sight of Lucy and Alice walking into the train station on their way to London to see the Jonas Brothers (for Alice). Lucy was taking her big sister role very seriously. Their beautiful NZ cousin Susannah met them at the other end and took them to a "Lovely cupcake cafe Mummy," (and Oxford Street)which I thought was very girlie and thoughtful and they loved it. Thank you Susannah and Dylan..please don't go back home...!
- Today whilst I was eating my school lunch in the dining hall, one the 9 year old boys from my class came and sat opposite me and as he put down his plate he mumbled something about coming to sit here on purpose. "Why is that?" I enquired, intrigued. "Because you don't like to sit on your own." How sweet was that...only I wasn't alone and was deep in conversation! I have a feeling he only wanted to talk fossils with me really but I was very touched by his thoughtfulness - and told him so. He just shrugged in reply.
- The female sparrow ever-so-gently feeding her bigger-than-her baby in 'feeder city.'
- The unexpected sound of Anthony's voice answering the phone when I rang home at 6.10pm yesterday evening.
4 things that are driving me crazy..
- The horrendous muddle and mess of the house at the moment. (Nothing changes there then!)
- My blooming chafed thigh problem returning due to me sporting bare legs this summer.
- Still not knowing if I am able to get tickets for Crosby, Stills & Nash in a fortnight. Pleeeeese God.
- Weeds and magpies.
4 places I would like to go..
- To our local bird hide as I didn't go last weekend due to inspecting toilets and the like.
- A Cath Kidston shop because I want to buy a flowery bath sheet for the new bathroom and they have none on the website (which incidentally costs more than our basin did!)
- To Portpatrick (where Anth and I began).
- Somewhere cold.
4 things I'm hopeful for this week..
- A new boiler without any hitches.
- Good health for me and my loved ones.
- Laughter.
- A miracle weight-loss programme.
Ooh yes.. and Chris Martin's telephone number!
