Do you see that patchwork quilt? That 'Trip-Around-The-World' patchwork quilt? The patchwork quilt in a Ryland, Peters & Small book no less; and to be precise, page 24 of 'Vintage Fabric Style'. Well guess what...I found one!
Ooh, I'm feeling a tad embarrassed at how crumpled it looks..gee I don't think this picture will grace a Ryland,Peters & Small book! It may not seem obvious but it's almost identical - yeah really - it's even got the same blue edging. Tut, it looks so creased doesn't it? What a scruffy picture compared to the book. Well, that's real life for you and sums up our home, well used and loved!
I couldn't quite believe it when I found it in a fairly pricey Antique & Collectibles shop in Leominster. I immediately recognised it from the book (how do the images from my favourite books seem to burn into my very consciousness? Perhaps I'm just a interiors geek!) It wasn't that expensive really but perhaps I'm being swayed because I've seen it in a book. I don't seem to find 'quality' vintage textiles, you know, like you find in magazines and books; stuff that you would find in the home of Caroline Zoob and talking of Caroline I actually met someone who knows her..!! Yeah how amazing was that - I was speechless for a minute or 2 and how amazing was that..me being speechless!
Anyway, little Posy likes the new quilt
almost as much as me...and I don't want to brag but wait till you see what else we bought in Ludlow...teeny clue..it's has metal roses...I'll show you tomorrow!
