Ooh.. I so love a charity run. This Friday I went to Newton Abbot which has about 7 charity shops and it quickly turned into a rose covered china day. I was hoping for some rose covered fabrics and yes, I did buy a wonderful vintage bag (I'll show you this week after a few alterations) but aside from an old striped duvet cover at the tip (recycling centre!) and a metre of new flowery Liberty-like fabric, my rose covered fabric dreams were cruelly crushed! Why am I the only person that never stumbles across wonderfully faded fabrics in charity shops?
Still, I did love what I did find. The cake stand has a rather large crack across the top but it hasn't reached the sides yet so I'm hoping it might get some use before Anth smashes it. I'll let you know how long it lasts! I have a mug (my current favourite) with the same rose on as the jug on the far right. It isn't marked so I can't search ebay for it, but it makes me strangely happy!
I'm thinking of getting rid of our rapid boil electric kettle and buying a whistling kettle that goes on the gas hob. I think there is nothing more comforting than to hear the cheery whistle calling you for tea. What do you think? Does anyone still use them? Ooh, I feel a cup of tea coming on..
