The Last Couple of Days
Yesterday
Going to school..'the lanes way.'
Can you see the Cow Parsley starting to froth - just waiting for me to stop the car and pick it! And the Red Campion (which I still call Pink Campion) has just arrived too I noticed; it looks lovely with the bluebells dotted around it. Yes, Spring is here along with it's very changeable weather, sun, torrential rain, strong winds, all in the space of an hour.
Today
Charity Shop finds.
..the blanket, in case you're wondering! It's not very big, and the squares are actually much smaller than they appear in the photo, but perfect for snuggling on the sofa. Might even try again to put it on Tom's bed though I don't hold out much hope!
And some 70's pillowcases. Very flea market. I'm starting a collection of those bright, floral 70's (?) pillowcases as Lucy actually showed a smidgen of interest in them. So these might grace her bed.
..and lastly a peep at my almost planted up garden. After many months of neglect and lack of enthusiasm on my part I had a lovely weekend last week getting reacquainted. Let's hope the sun stays around for the next.

What a beautiful way to go to school, you lucky girl. Glad to hear that spring has arrived for you. In California so far we are still having a mild spring and hope it will last for a while longer. Your garden looks good too!

oooooooooooh I have just had a peep through your beautiful blog....it is all so lovely, just what I like. I could not believe when i saw the Home Sweet Home sampler as recently my hub had to go in the loft to find something and came back down with an old plastic bag with some of my very old embroidery in it! it is the same sampler! I had forgotten all about it. I had bought it in the 80's.
You have a really lovely home.

Gorgeous little blanket, very 'you'. I have a fairly good collection of vintage pillowcases and Sophie snaffles some every time she changes her decor (twice-weekly usually!). At the moment her bed is blooming out in orange and yellow flowers.

A lovely, pretty way to go to school.
Loving both the blanket and pillow cases. Really loving the red/pink bookshelves in the background too.
I did have to giggle about the Tom/blanket debacle. :)

I love cow parsley..but crikey doesn't it stink when you bring it indoors! Love the squares blanket.. that was an excellent find as everyones onto them round here and they're gone in a blink!

Lovely finds Jane. (Funnily enough, I persuaded my friend to buy a Mary statue at a flea market last month - she's very similar to yours - but minus paint splats(!) so she was £8)
Have a wonderful BH weekend in your garden (I hope to do the same.)

Pedantic about pronouns?!
Dear exquisite entertaining Jane,
You may dislike my post intensely (please don't ;o) but I find your blog, creativity and writing so wonderful, uplifting and inspiring that I cannot help cringing quite gloriously at your use of 'it's' instead of 'its'. Metaphorically speaking, it is a bit like an indelible ink stain on a much longed for Cath Kidston blanket...there, just had to say it, no offence intended, thank you!*Hides under her desk lest the legions of Jane's fans should try to virtually stone her*. Miracles and Blessings to you nevertheless of course!

Hello Jane, isn't it wonderful that everything is finally greening up. I don't mind those April showers so much now they truly are bringing forth May flowers. The lanes around your way are much greener and flowery than ours up here in the North Midlands. No flowers here at all yet (we had snow 3 weeks ago) spring has finally sprung. Smashing blanket btw, how could Tom resist!
Have a lovely Bank Holiday.

hope you are feeling more comfortable with the flea market purchases, its great keep it up. Sometimes the best and most precious items are bought at flea markets mostly because they are bargains. You have a keen eye, fantastic taste and the skill to make the most mundane beautiful.I love to knit and to crochet and like everyone have several unfinished projects waiting to be picked up and completed, perhaps it is time to open a finishing school for all those projects put on the back burner. Do you have many abandoned projects crying out for attention? You seem so organised, how do you find the time to do everything? I have a part-time job, am a taxi service to my three children with a dog and a husband (not in that order,I don't think!)finding time to be a domestic goddess is almost impossible. Jane you are a real inspiration, thank you.

What a lovely lane to walk! I don't think I'd want to go any other way! I had to drive 3 different (ugly) freeways to get to my school. I'd much rather ramble your way.
We're doing our gardening as we can--between snow storms!
I love your blog.

Jane ~ I'm always inspired when I visit your blog and this post is no exception. I can't wait to start collecting old tin pails and containers for a garden like yours. I love it! It's beautiful!

Beautiful, beautiful England. Every corner is so beautiful - and charity shops are one of the many good things we can find in England.
About your garden: your plants looks much more alive then mine. Talk about neglecting your plants. You should see mine. Maybe now I will treat them a bit better.

I love that brightly colored bookcase! I just learned that the Cath Kidston shops closed here in the US, now I'll just have to live vicariouly through your photos.

Jane, that lane is so dreamy!! Wow :o) the hedges look really high and thick. I love that blanket you found charity shopping. It immediately reminded me of the Cath Kidston granny square blankets. Very pretty garden :o) hope the weather's nice for you this weekend. xox

It's all grand. The crochet blanket is wonderful, beautiful colors. If Tom won't allow it.....
hahaha. I had one similar and my pups chewed a few holes in it's wool. My grand-mum taught me how to make these. I should make one for myself. I am so envious of your garden. It is divine. I can't imagine how fabulous it will be once youve worked it.
smiles,

I like to stop at the side of the road and pick flowers too. we have a similar plant to cow's parsley here which we call queen anne's lace. It's much smaller though. It is beautiful in a vase.
I'll be back to visit again.
