Hello & welcome!

  • My name is Jane and I live in a seaside town in Devon, England. I'm a mother to 3 lovely children and I'm happily married to Anthony. I work part-time as a Teaching Assistant and the rest of the time I can be found sewing, treasure hunting, crocheting, gardening and re-painting the furniture.

That Friday Feeling

Dsc_0698

Ooh, it's been a long week. A week when I've had to work full time..oh the horror! And Tom had to go to court about his mugging. He was brilliant, I was so proud of how he handled the situation and the person was found guilty. It was a stressful experience for us all but it's finished now and it's Friday. The sun is trying to shine and the weather forecast for the weekend looks good, my pots, well my buckets are beginning to burst forth with flowers and my 'new' collection is looking blooming too.  These pictures have been found at my recent car boots as I'm trying to create a wall of flowers in the sitting room. I did want only embroidered pictures but think I might extend it to paintings too.  So, now I'm trying to decided if I should paint the frames of the 2 tiny oil paintings..hmm. Anyway, I will show you when it's all up, which hopefully should be this weekend.  I say 'should be' because the house is outrageously messy and it will take some time to get things in order...better get going - have a super weekend.

Dear Jane,
have a nice weekend, too!
On sunday here in Germany we celebrate "Mother´s Day", so it will be for sure a nice weekend for me, hehe...
By the way, I would paint the frames in a "shabby white".

...have a good one, love the picture with the cat in the corner! Great timing! x

Glad to hear about Tom and hope the horrible situation is done with and you and your family will never have to go through anything like that again.

Your photo shot could not be more perfect! Beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend.

Very pretty pictures, your backyard is very lush and green. And your kitty is very pretty!

Lovely photo Jane, both layers of flowers look lush!
Can't wait to see your wall of flowers bloom, I am contemplating creating a collection of "hearts and roses" pictures for my bedroom wall so will be interested to see how yours pans out :o)
xx

Glad to hear the ordeal concerning Tom is over. Yes, yes, paint the frames. You seem to have an amazing eye for color-go for it!

Those paintings are lovely and colorful. I'm sure they will brighten up your sitting room even more. Have a great weekend!!

What a beautiful backdrop your garden is! Bravo for Tom, and I say... paint the little frames!!!

Glad everything is done with the thief.

Love those flower paintings. I'd love to find some affordable ones...but, I found some new small ones at a dollar store & repainted the frames in a shabby chic distressed white. They look really good. In fact, I was in an antique mall not long ago and I spotted the same paintings in someone's booth! Guess they were trying to pass them off as old and charging WAY more than what I bought them at - that's happened with other things, makes me mad...they didn't even paint the cheesy frames either.
I see you have those pretty African daisies with the spoon shaped petals - I had planted some a few years ago and they went wild.

Jane your garden is lovely and your new paintings look right at home. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could decorate the garden with them and not worry that the weather would ruin them.

Oh Jane what a beautiful still life picture you've put together here. I do admire your talent for composition and bless you cat (is that Alfie?) for sitting in just the right spot. I love floral paintings too and have won a couple of bargains on ebay in the past but have absolutely no joy at the car boots. The ones around here are hopeless - all batteries and dodgy dvds, not a vintage thing in sight!
Well done to Tom and you all for getting through such a tough time, you sound a very proud mum. Enjoy the sunshine.

I know so well that friday feeling: the relief, the plans ...
I work full time too and I think is horror! I miss my house all week long so, when friday arrives, I feel so good.

Excellent news about Tom, well done to him. Adore the photo, it's brilliant, so pretty and interesting and love the expresion on Posy's face, secure in the knowledge she is the most beautiful of all! (it is Posy not Alfie, I think?)Have a lovely weekend, Jackie Mx

Love the paintings. And what a lovely photo!

your garden looks so lovely- I cant wait to see the inside of the house! mine is such a tumble of Junk I'm glad we can get away with close ups!

Hi Jane,
So good to know that justice has been done - well done to Tom.

Your garden is looking glorious - especially with the additional flowers!

Hope you had the scorching weeknend weather,

Love your pictures and your photo with your cute kitty in the mix too!

I laughed about your school stories in the last post. Thanks for sharing...it brightened my day to hear real life bloopers!!
Amy

Lovely photo. Nice to have that awful thing behind you, too.

Werry nice blog! Many beautyful things you have pictures of... Warm greeting from Norway

Hi Jane!

Looks like you had fun at the boot sale...nice pictures. Is that your cat in the background? What a pretty kitty!

A mugging...is your husband okay?

Hope the housekeeping goes quickly, it certainly gets dirtier quicker than it gets 'cleaner,' ~at my house anyway.

Hi Jane,
I'm glad to hear Tom's ordeal is over, you can all move on now hopefully. I'm sure it's been a difficult time but pleased to read you haven't lost your sense of humouor (referring to the knicker/loo roll incidents!). Just catching up with your recent posts, lovely pictures, nice finds at the boot sales (the fine weather is perfect for a Sunday morning browse)

your skirt in knicker story really made me laugh, been there, done that!Think your wall of flower paintings will look lovely when it's finished.Hope Tom is recovering from his horrific ordeal.

I love the flower pictures. I went to a boot sale myself this week and lingered a long time by a water colour of a bunch of pretty colourful Sweet Peas. After seeing the effect of a few pictures together I wish I'd bought it!
Well Done for having such an interesting blog.

Hi the pictures you found are perfect to match your decor, I am quite new to your blog and have been having a wonderful look around, your decor colours have inspired me!

See you again soon

Hi Jane, hope Tom is ok and can now try to put this ordeal to the back of his mind,it takes awhile to get over something like that,we wish him well!
Love the knicker, toilet roll story, you never think it will happen to you, sorry Jane it was so funny!
Love the flower pictures,I would paint the frames but then you do what you think will look best in your home!

Hello,
This is one of the most beautiful websites I have ever come across. I absolutely adore your house. You have a wonderful eye for things. Anyway, I hope you don't mind but I used the pic of your living room as my wallpaper on my computer!!! It just looked so cosy and inviting. Take care.

I enjoy your blog ,I like to see how people live in other parts of the world. what is "car boots"? is it like a yard sale?

I just came across you blog today and it is so pretty! It makes me wish I lived in England, instead of boring America (well at least the state I live in).

Charming pictures. Now when I read "car boots" I pictured the towing company booting the car so that it couldn't be driven...I'm sure it means something much different!

So glad that Tom can put the nasty experience behind him now.
