Hello & welcome!

  • My name is Jane and I live in a seaside town in Devon, England. I'm a mother to 3 lovely children and I'm happily married to Anthony. I work part-time as a Teaching Assistant and the rest of the time I can be found sewing, treasure hunting, crocheting, gardening and re-painting the furniture.

Smeaton's Tower

Dsc_0658

The other night Anth and I took Tom and a friend to a concert in Plymouth. As we had a few hours to fill before we picked them up we thought we would go for dinner somewhere. We used to live in Plymouth and couldn't believe that 15 years had passed since we did. It was lovely to get reacquainted with familiar places - we didn't have long as the sun was going down so we headed to the Hoe as I wanted to photograph the lighthouse er.. tower. I love this lighthouse/tower. It is called Smeaton's Tower and you can read all about it's history here and here if you are interested.

I just loved the light of the setting sun bouncing off the red and white paintwork and the cute little windows. I hardly took any photos of anything else! Shame.. but so understandable!

That is a glorious set of images. The last one is magic. No wonder you didn't did take many shots of anything else!!

Jane, I am so happy that you share your life with the blogosphere. It is a quick pick me up for me.

Smeaton's Tower looks fantastic.. I haven't been to Plymouth yet..well I've driven through but never got out of the car. It looks beautiful. Its my blog birthday so I'm having a giveaway on my site today to celebrate. Pop over if you get the chance x

Hi Jane, those pictures are absolutely delightful. My heart aches to go and visit England again!! It's been too long (6 or 7 years) since I last visited. Your blog is bringing back so many beautiful memories for me. High time I started saving up I think ;-)

Wow what amazing light and colours you have captured, really stunning. I LOVE lighthouses/towers too, the red/white stripes and dinky windows make my heart beat faster. Awwwwwwww now I am craving the sea again, its four weeks since I was by the coast...

Beautiful pictures. The stripes on the lighthouse are gorgeous, especially in that light.

Jane,

Beautiful pictures, especially the last one. It's so serene and peaceful.

Gorgeous photographs.

Lovely pictures - took me back to my childhood. We used to visit friends in Torquay and always had a visit to this lighthouse - my bro and I used to love climbing up the stairs with our parents. Arrh those were the days!

The lighting in your photos is so calming and beautiful. I can imagine what it felt like to take in the beauty of that moment.

wow, I cant believe you used to live in plymouth. We live near Yelverton so not far from plymouth as i'm sure you know! I remember commenting on one of your other posts and telling you about tavistock but you are probably quite familiar with it having lived in Plymouth...small world hey :)

I love that last picture. It really is perfect. So restful and inviting.

The pictures are lovely and we will see Smeaton's tower in July as we are coming down to Devon for our holidays. When my sister and I were little our dad and grandad took us up Smeaton's Tower. We know all of South Devon really well as we used to know someone who owned a house in Preston Paignton and let it for holidays. Our holidays there are what I call really relaxing ones as we know where everything is.

Best wishes
Sarah

Oh! Wonderfulful! I stayed in St. Mellion for a week in January, and also had some nice trips to Plymouth . I would really like to go back there with my whole family. Best regards from Norway!

Lovely post, beautiful photos... Thank you so much for sharing.

Smiles...

Beverly

I love the first picture :o) The sky looks like it's moving, and the lighthouse is just staying still... lovely contrast!! It looks like a magical place! xox

Beautiful photographs Jane. Lighthouses have such magic about them don't they? I've always dreamed of being a lighthouse keeper armed with Radio 4 and a good supply of cross stitch to keep me busy. What a shame everyting is done remotely now.

The light is amazing...

Great Photo's! My Mum is from Plymouth, her aunt used to work for a trust that helped maintain the lighthouse! It looked like a lovely day!

These are all beautiful shots!

Ahhhh, what gorgeous pictures! I'm enjoying so much seeing also your corners of your world and finds!
