Smeaton's Tower
The other night Anth and I took Tom and a friend to a concert in Plymouth. As we had a few hours to fill before we picked them up we thought we would go for dinner somewhere. We used to live in Plymouth and couldn't believe that 15 years had passed since we did. It was lovely to get reacquainted with familiar places - we didn't have long as the sun was going down so we headed to the Hoe as I wanted to photograph the lighthouse er.. tower. I love this lighthouse/tower. It is called Smeaton's Tower and you can read all about it's history here and here if you are interested.
Looking towards Sutton Harbour.
I just loved the light of the setting sun bouncing off the red and white paintwork and the cute little windows. I hardly took any photos of anything else! Shame.. but so understandable!

Your last pix is SOOOoooo Beautiful!!!! The colors are amazing. Thank you.

Hi Jane, those pictures are absolutely delightful. My heart aches to go and visit England again!! It's been too long (6 or 7 years) since I last visited. Your blog is bringing back so many beautiful memories for me. High time I started saving up I think ;-)

Wow what amazing light and colours you have captured, really stunning. I LOVE lighthouses/towers too, the red/white stripes and dinky windows make my heart beat faster. Awwwwwwww now I am craving the sea again, its four weeks since I was by the coast...

Beautiful pictures. The stripes on the lighthouse are gorgeous, especially in that light.

Lovely pictures - took me back to my childhood. We used to visit friends in Torquay and always had a visit to this lighthouse - my bro and I used to love climbing up the stairs with our parents. Arrh those were the days!

The pictures are lovely and we will see Smeaton's tower in July as we are coming down to Devon for our holidays. When my sister and I were little our dad and grandad took us up Smeaton's Tower. We know all of South Devon really well as we used to know someone who owned a house in Preston Paignton and let it for holidays. Our holidays there are what I call really relaxing ones as we know where everything is.
Best wishes

I love the first picture :o) The sky looks like it's moving, and the lighthouse is just staying still... lovely contrast!! It looks like a magical place! xox

Beautiful photographs Jane. Lighthouses have such magic about them don't they? I've always dreamed of being a lighthouse keeper armed with Radio 4 and a good supply of cross stitch to keep me busy. What a shame everyting is done remotely now.

Great Photo's! My Mum is from Plymouth, her aunt used to work for a trust that helped maintain the lighthouse! It looked like a lovely day!
