My name is Jane and I live in a seaside town in Devon, England. I'm a mother to 3 lovely children and I'm happily married to Anthony. I work part-time as a Teaching Assistant and the rest of the time I can be found sewing, treasure hunting, crocheting, gardening and re-painting the furniture.
I was about to tell you that all the flowers on my mantlepiece were fake but then realised that the fabulous 'drum-stick' primulas (in the middle) are real.
But these are definitely not real and I love them -
my new knitted flowers. Ooh, I feel a new project coming on..

the mantlepiece looks really pretty, and I love the knitted flowers too,
have a lovely weekend Jane.
Jane,
Your mantle looks lovely. I am especially fond of your knitted flowers. Very cute. The colors are similar to what I'm using in my latest afghan(inspired by those in Cath Kidston's book Vintage Style). Pop on over and have a look if you get the chance.(I hope that wasn't too forward)
Hi Jane,
the mantlepiece and the flowers are beautiful. But, what happened with your crocheting hearts? Did you finish them and make photos? They were for your niece as a gift, or? If you made a photo, would be nice to see it in your next posts, pleeeaaase...hehe
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sabine
I love your knitted flowers. Did you make them? Can you buy them? Also I was wondering in your mirror there is a dark brown picture with words on it (with flowers). What do the words say? The picture looks darling!! I just love love your house!! Thanks alot! Jennifer
What gorgeous photos Jane, it all looks so pretty, and I was pleased to see your knitted "no place like home" picture again, I wondered where it had gone after you moved it for your mirrors in the dining room! Jackie Mx
The knitted flowers are just the best! I'll have to try to make some. If you have a minute, check our blog. We are having a giveaway and it's finishing tonight.
Cheers
ooooooooooooo lovely lovely!!! I have just peeked at your previous 6 mantle posts and all are utterly gorgeous. Your home is truly inspiring Jane, I wish I could drop by for a cuppa and gaze at it all for a whole afternoon.
I am pondering putting some paper on my chimney breast, your rose wallpaper always makes my heart flutter when I see it!
Oh yes, and do pleeease share the story behind the knitted flowers, I'm sure there has to be one! :o)x
does nothing ugly ever land on your mantle?
amongst my sweetly scented stocks and beautiful trinkets today are.....
a swiss army knife, a half used roll of cotton - and it is not even a vintage spool!
a unfinished mug of coffee, tv remote, match box, a chip from a mobile phone...
and that is just the items that have sneaked on there today!!!!
darn
i have mantle envy!

I am simply delighted to stumble across your blog today, at the suggestion of a friend. I just read the post on your childhood home, and I found myself sighing, too, sighing as I looked at your kitchen curtains and the garden, and the mantle, which ALL look so surpremely BRITISH in some ethereal way...
as my husband strolled in I sighed and said, "can you imagine?" We have GOT to visit your side of the ocean some time soon.
There is charm in the history of England, and it's lovely to see someone who lives there enjoy it as fully as I think I would. I love my home, too, don't get me wrong - but there is enchantment in a foreign place as yet unvisited, isn't there?
My oldest daughter is now 13, too - in fact, she looks a lot like yours with her blonde hair and fair skin. It is fun to have teenagers, at least so far!
Nice to "meet" you - I look forward to more visits soon.

I love Drumstick Primula. They're like magical floral lollipops. Hubby and I saw some on our walk the other day...

Jane,
I love your mantle! It has all my favorites things: a pretty mirror, crystal candlesticks, candles and roses, lots and lots of roses. :-)
