A typical Tuesday morning at 8.30 usually finds me driving into the school car-park hoping for space. Yesterday morning at 9 you would have found me in Bristol (100 miles away) driving into the Ikea car-park and very unusually for Ikea, there were plenty of spaces! Now this is rare I get to go to Ikea - probably only once a year. But I always want to go. Very much.
It all started in the bath on Monday morning. Anthony mentioned that he was going on a course the next day,in Bristol, and he would be very close to Ikea. I told him not to be so cruel until I remembered that I was owed a day off from school. Hmmm.
So there I was squealing with delight as I drove into the car park. I had a wonderful time but alas I bought no fabric. On the way home Anth even agreed to stop at Cribbs Causeway (shopping mall) which has a huge John Lewis so I thought ha, they'll have fabric and trimmings. Think again Jane. Nothing. Only 4 colours of ric-rac and nothing very special. Darn this fabric famine.
Even though we had a lovely day. Together. It's so good to be doing things together again - without children.
So, as much as I love routine, and I really do love the security and balance of routine - it was such a wonderful treat just to step off the treadmill and do something so special to me. Thank you Anth for your patience and sorry about your aching feet! x
